006 – Not Helpful

With the TLS Navicom 3000, getting lost is a thing of the past! So easy to use, and installation is a snap. Just hook the Navicom up and you’ll never be alone on the road – or in the sky – again!

Let the Navicom 3000 make your next trip a Fun EventĀ®. Remember, unless it says TerraLuna, it’s not!

(TerraLuna Navicom, a TerraLuna Industries Company.)

TerraLuna Security Agent Captain Cassandra Quinn is on her final approach to the Lunar outpost Luna Seven. Her assignment evidently has something to do with a pirate problem at the outpost. She’s just gotten off on the wrong foot with the facility’s administrator, Dabney Flagg, a man who loves the ladies and definitely leaves an impression, and she’s having typical success communicating with her ship’s computer navigator Agnes, and by typical success, I mean “trouble”. The story starts HERE.

Seriously, this has to be the best on board computer I’ve ever seen.
    Not helpful, indeed.

  2. Tom Dell'Aringa

Sweet Jiblets this is coming out great. Maybe Agnes is just a glorified Commodore 64 ;)

  3. Og

I believe there is some legacy code from both the Commodore and the Tandy. Must be, in fact. :)

  4. Orbital77

Great drawings, really liking the colour palette. There`s a nice 2D interpretation here you probably would have never achieved if you`d continued in 3D. You`ll be finished very quickly at this rate.

Thanks, Orbital. I feel the same – Moon Town was never going to get done the way I was going. This is at least the story, and I think I’m doing things visually I wouldn’t have been able to do as a 3D film… what takes 15 minutes to draw can take days or weeks to build, texture and animate. Don’t know why I resisted doing it this way for so long, but that’s how it is.

Are those jet intakes? IN SPAAACE?

  7. Og

Well… they certainly LOOK like jet intakes. In space. But the ship is flying, so I’m thinking they must be something else that just LOOK like jet intakes. Yeah. That must be it. hee hee…

  8. Nestor

Dark matter intakes. There was an article floating about speculating they could use dark matter as a medium to travel in now that they figure interstellar hydrogen won’t be enough for ramscoops

Of course no one knows what the stuff is but that’s what THE FUTURE is for

  9. DCS

Or maybe, like in Firefly, they’re jet engines for in-atmosphere work, to save the main engines and provide for maneuvering . . .

  10. Og

Stark – you may be right!

That ship does operate in atmo, despite its lack of wings. I dunno… the idea on those engines is that they’re some sort of hybrid that can be configured on the fly for atmospheric as well as vacuum propulsion. Sometimes I go more for Stuff that Looks Cool at the expense of Scientific Reality. Hopefully people just roll widdit.
