071 – Bringing Her In

Uh-oh… she’s up.

Eagle-eyed readers may notice the subtle changes I’ve made to the first three strips of this chapter. I thought a couple of things needed clarification. I like them better this way. Enjoy!

Security Agent Captain Cassandra Quinn is on assignment to the mining outpost Luna Seven amid rumors of pirates near the outpost. On her approach to the complex, she saw something moving around on the surface of the moon that shouldn’t have been. During her attempts to verify her visual sighting, a mysterious ship blasted her out of the sky. Her story starts HERE.

Meanwhile, on miner Simon Tripline’s morning commute to work, he sees something strange through a porthole. Shortly thereafter, Simon’s suspicions are aroused concerning Vin Sinclair, who became separated from the mining party. Simon took off to find him, but found Cassandra instead.

The two protagonists are finally together in the same room and one of them has a gun. This could get interesting.

Looks like Simon has some explaining to do or …

  3. Tom

I’m really looking forward to their first conversation :)

  4. Mike M

Poor Simon . . .great timing with the dialogue between Simon and Flagg.

  5. David Reddick

YES! Finally a nice shot of Cassie!

I am becoming a little suspicious of Mr Flagg. First he didn’t want Simon to go in search of Sinclair, supposedly for fear of loss of the digger, and now that Simon has found Cassie (is there just something about a woman with a gun, or what?), now Mr Flagg doesn’t seem to want Simon to come back without finding out where Sinclair is. Hmmm. Bells are ringing, flags are waving, and Cassie has drawn her weapon! Or perhaps there is nothing more there then what appears on the surface of all that lunar regolith. I am waiting with bated breath, yet salivating like a beast for meat, for each new update. Wonderful!

Yeah, Flagg is an interesting character. He didn’t want Simon to go after Vin, but once Simon threw his hat over the fence and went Out There, Flagg feels like Simon better find Vin and that digger, or the risk wasn’t worth it. He’s an odd sort of manager, always changing his mind in light of his own priorities. That’s what makes him so fun to write for, but so hard to work for.

Wow, thanks thirtyseven! I didn’t realize I had been nominated! Quite an honor. Cheers!

Heh, Flagg is showing fairly typical middle-management behavior, in my experience. And yeah, Simon’s day continues to unfold in its slow-motion-trainwreck fashion….

Hope Simon notice Cassandra before he turned to ashes to ashes and space dust to space dust!

I’m thinking Captain Cassandra Quinn is a bit like Captain Kirk, returns from a set back on full throttle 100% afterburners. Low to High with no middle ground.

  13. Og

    You have judged her correctly.

“Lucy, I’m home, and you got some ’splainin’ to do!”
