087-088 – It’s Still There!

Ah, Simon… ya shouldn’a done that!

Security Agent Captain Cassandra Quinn is on assignment to the mining outpost Luna Seven amid rumors of pirates near the outpost. On her approach to the complex, she saw something moving around on the surface of the moon that shouldn’t have been. During her attempts to verify her visual sighting, a mysterious ship blasted her out of the sky. Her story starts HERE.

Meanwhile, on miner Simon Tripline’s morning commute to work, he sees something strange through a porthole. Shortly thereafter, Simon’s suspicions are aroused concerning the mysterious activities of the base’s top earner, Vin Sinclair, who becomes separated from the mining party. Simon takes off to find him, but finds Captain Quinn instead. He rescues her, but she wakes up confused, angry and armed. While they argue, something is watching them.

But the disoriented Captain Quinn threatens to shoot Simon one too many times, so he buckles in, seals his mask, and vents the cab compartment, blowing her out of the digger into the vaccuum of the moon, even though she only has 5 minutes of oxygen left. Before long, he brings her back in and tries to reason with her. It doesn’t go well, but before Simon and Captain Quinn can beat each other to death, the moon aliens come calling.

I don’t think it liked getting hit in the head with that bucket.
I like the two last panels a lot.
Very good view of the squid, and funny expression on Simon.
Poor Cassie, I haven’t really seen anything for her to grab hold of.

  2. Kev_Brett

loving the little guy on top of the “octo-alien”

  3. Chris

I wonder what the boss man thinks of all this? I’m guessing he’s not happy his truck is being redecorated.

Giant “Luna-Squid” = Bad, Giant “Luna-Squid” with splitting headache = Worse. (Or Octo-Alien) Great action. Little details like the digger’s suspension reacting as it goes over make all the difference.

  5. Tom

I love the expression of the rider, he’s like a cowboy who just won’t give up!

  6. Hornet

Shouldn’t have stopped swinging that bucket. :P

  7. Ruben Moreno

Great creature design. I have to echo Kev_Brett’s sentiment: Love the little alien on top.

  8. Peter

Nice method of indicating stressful speech with the red bubble-border.

Good ol’ Tripline – one minute, about ready to eject the moon-o-cop out the podbay doors, for a second trip into the lunar astroturf , and the next minute, when the rig is being definitely threatened and she’s probably been knocked off her heels too, being right concerned about her safety. I see he doesn’t hold a grudge, that character. Nice to see.

Thanks for the nice words, everybody!

Gimbal – yeah, I think all human grudges get put on hold when aliens attack.

    Sweet stuff, Og!

Going over starboard side. Good because the port has the portal of escape, door. Maybe they’ll go away soon. ( also echoing… “loving the little guy on top.”)
    Tripline’s expression is fricking great.

PS How much pay do they dock? Just because you let mystery aliens surprise you and then tip your digger over.

Thanks, Uther. Ah, the subject of docking pay – yeah. That’s going to be a hell of a bill.
