I’ve never been a big fan of comics… I read mostly non-fiction science books and find it hard sometimes to get into fiction, let alone cartoon fiction… So when I heard about Moon Town on the 365 Days of Astronomy podcast, I was intrigued, but skeptical. I visited this site and was hooked from the first panel! I cannot get enough of Moon Town! I think it will be torture for me to have to wait every couple of days for an update!
PLEASE finish as soon as you can… I would pay lot’s of $ for this… Great work! Keep it up!

  2. Og

Hey, Jeffrey! Wow, what a great note! This is exactly the hurdle, to get people who don’t like comics and aren’t sure about sci-fi interested in Moon Town. I would like to think it’s more than your typical sci-fi, and more engaging than your typical comic. I’m so glad to hear you feel that way as well.

As for how quickly I’ll get ‘er done, more strips are on the way, and I’ll get it out to you just as quickly as I can.

Thanks again for the great note!

And just to clarify: I have nothing against comics at all… I had just never found one that I liked – until now!
So, at the risk of sounding a little creepy, I’m slightly embarrassed to admit I actually had a dream about Moon Town last night, ha!
-At any rate, I wanted to let you know I linked your site to mine to try to spread the word -You don’t have to return the favor, I host from my house as a side project – not a great website ;) I get slightly more than zero traffic, but thought I’d help in any way I can!
-BTW, I’m a (amateur) musician and have links to some music under the ‘audio’ link on the ‘About’ page on my website if you’re slightly interested…

-Keep up the great work Steve… I’m looking forward to the next update!!

Maybe you want to change the ETA to something like Christmas/Holiday/End of 2009 or Q1 2010? :)
Looks a bit weird with a time that has already passed as the estimated release date.

  5. Og

    Thanks, Sardtok!

Inspiring, Steve. I can see just how effective the layouts are now. It’s doubly impressive just how you break up the panels for the web-comic, and how they then fit on the page. The flow of each segment of panels, then the page flow, work equally well! But then, what am I thinking? You know a thing or two about this shtick! :D

  7. flawedprefect

Oh – and five pager? My money’s on MONKEYPANTS!!

  8. Og

It’s like making a movie… heh heh. MONKEYPANTS!

  9. Mat Barton

Wow! This looks awesome. I look forward to reading it.

  10. Tom

You look at these pages all laid out like this and you can really see what a beautiful book it’s going to be.

  11. Og

Hey, thanks you guys! I am pretty pleased with it, Tom, and it’s getting excited. Mat – I’m glad you’re into it. Spread the word if you can – thanks!

  12. John McCarthy

Steve, you are a goddam genius.
    ‘Nuff Said.

  13. Og

John – if the definition of “genius” is “guy who doesn’t know what he’s doing, makes it up as he goes along and then falls backwards into a bed of roses” then I hope you are right. :) And also, glad you approve.

  14. Sardtok

The new format is awesome. I really like how the large frames now fill a whole page.

But, three chapters? I thought there were two?

  15. Og

Heya, Sardtok – originally there were going to be two chapters, but I felt the first book would break better after three. The first chapter is called “New Sherriff in Town”, about Cassie’s arrival; the second is called Moon Men, about Simon, the VBL, and the prep for the dig; and the third is called Digging in the Dark, and is about the Mystery of Vin.

  16. Sardtok

Ah, you’ve fixed the chapter forward link, but not the chapter back link in the menu.
Going forward you get to “Stop Mucking About”, but going back from the latest you skip straight to chapter 2’s “Rise and Shine”.

  17. Og

It’s not ideal, but I didn’t program it – the function comes with ComicPress – and that’s just the way that works. *shrug* I guess we’ll all just have to soldier on until the next CP release.

  18. Mark

I know there is the visual archive, but it would be cool if there were image map links on these pages that went to each panel, because you know, you need one more thing to do.

  19. Og

Mark – actually, that would be awesome, and it is something I’m working on. But yeah. Time.

  20. Jeffrey Fisher

Ok, so how soon is ‘early 2010?’ ;)

  21. Og

    March. Any day now.

  22. PiperKev

I just put my order in for a signed copy! Your arm’s gonna get tired, Steve!! ;-D

  23. Og

Thanks, Piper! And if I have to sacrifice my arm for the Moon Town fans, well that’s all right, innit? :)

  24. David Reddick

    AWESOME!!!!!
